..Title Honoring and recognizing Philadelphia's living legends during Black History Month for their contributions to the African American community and their lasting impact. ..Body WHEREAS, Black History Month is a dedicated time for education, reflection, and recognition of the struggles and triumphs of Black individuals throughout history. Within the City of Philadelphia, there are many individuals that continuously contribute and uplift the Black community. The Council of the City of Philadelphia comes together to honor these living legends; and WHEREAS, Ron Wilch is an icon in Philadelphia with over 40 years as a visual designer, entrepreneur, and community leader. Known for his contributions to sustainability and innovation, Wilch promotes economic independence and environmental awareness within the Black community while strengthening local Black-owned businesses; and WHEREAS, Lady B is widely recognized as one of the first female DJs to break into the male-dominated field of hip-hop. A mentor and advocate for social justice, Lady B has shaped the cultural landscape of Philadelphia and beyond; and WHEREAS, Latrista Webb, Executive Director of the Elevation Project, empowers youth and young adults in Philadelphia by providing mentorship and resources to help them succeed in education and career opportunities; and WHEREAS, Jamila Harris-Morrison, Executive Director of ACHIEVEability, has been a leader in combating poverty and homelessness, helping low-income families achieve self-sufficiency, particularly within the Black community; and WHEREAS, Rick Williams, anchor and reporter at 6abc Philadelphia, has been a trusted voice in broadcasting for over two decades, highlighting issues affecting the African American community and bringing awareness to important social topics; and WHEREAS, These living legends represent the resilience, creativity, and excellence of the Black community, inspiring future generations to break barriers, pursue their passions, and create positive change; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors Ron Wilch, Lady B, Latrista Webb, Jamila Harris-Morrison, Rick Williams, and other living legends for their extraordinary contributions to the African American community, urging all residents to celebrate their achievements during Black History Month and to continue supporting their efforts to inspire, uplift, and empower future generations. ..End
