..Title Renaming the 1300 Block of N 52nd Street as "Dr. Damone B. Jones Way" in recognition of Dr. Damone B. Jones, Sr. for his exceptional service to the West Philadelphia community. ..Body WHEREAS, Dr. Damone B. Jones, Sr., a native of West Philadelphia, has dedicated his life to serving the community through faith, education, mentorship, and activism; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jones is the Founder and President of The BrothaHood Foundation, Inc., which provides mentorship and hope to incarcerated and marginalized youth; and WHEREAS, As the pastor of Bible Way Baptist Church for over 31 years, Dr. Jones has served as a spiritual leader, uplifting thousands of individuals and fostering a strong sense of community; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jones has contributed to higher education as an adjunct professor at Missio Theological Seminary and Palmer Theological Seminary, shaping future generations of leaders through his commitment to academic excellence; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jones has held numerous civic leadership roles, including appointments to the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Review Committee, the Upper Darby Township Civil Service Commission, and the Mayor's Commission on African American Males, demonstrating his commitment to public service; and WHEREAS, Renaming the 1300 Block of 52nd Street in West Philadelphia to "Dr. Damone B. Jones, Sr. Way" would serve as a lasting tribute to his tireless dedication and inspire others to follow his example of faith, leadership, and community service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 1300 Block of N 52nd Street is hereby officially renamed and designated as "Dr. Damone B. Jones Way" to honor the legacy of Dr. Jones and his contributions to the City of Philadelphia. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Dr. Damone B. Jones in recognition of his tireless dedication and inspire others to follow his example of faith, leadership, and community service. ..End
