..Title Honoring and congratulating former Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, a Super Bowl LII champion, defensive leader, and distinguished advocate for social justice, on his induction into the Eagles Hall of Fame on November 28, 2025 - the first member of the Super Bowl LII roster to earn this recognition. ..Body WHEREAS, Jenkins was born in East Orange, New Jersey and attended Ohio State University, where he became one of the nation's best defensive backs. In addition to earning All-American honors, he also won the Jim Thorpe award in 2008, recognizing him as the nation's top defensive back; and WHEREAS, Jenkins was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints and won his first Super Bowl with them in his rookie season. In 2014, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, where his impact as a playmaker elevated the team for six seasons; and WHEREAS, Jenkins served as a team captain for the Eagles for four seasons, earned three Pro Bowl selections during his tenure, and played a central role in the team's historic victory in Super Bowl LII; and WHEREAS, Beyond his on-field success, Malcolm Jenkins became one of the NFL's most influential voices for racial and social justice, using his platform to advance measurable change. He founded the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation in 2010, which provides youth development, financial literacy programs, educational support, mentorship, entrepreneurship training, and COVID-19 relief initiatives in New Jersey, Ohio, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, In 2017, Jenkins co-founded the Players Coalition, an independent, athlete-led nonprofit organization committed to ending systemic racism and advancing criminal justice reform, police accountability, educational equity, and economic opportunity; and WHEREAS, Through the Players Coalition, Jenkins helped secure imperative state and federal policy changes. The Coalition's work led to reforms relating to juvenile justice, probation and parole, mandatory minimums, and police transparency. They were also able to redirect millions of dollars toward grassroots organizations working in underserved communities; and WHEREAS, Jenkins has been a leading advocate for the restoration of voting rights, encouraging civic participation and launching voter education and registration initiatives. His efforts have increased turnout among communities historically marginalized from the political process, demonstrating his commitment to uplifting Black and brown youth; and WHEREAS, To recognize his extraordinary leadership on and off the field, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that Malcolm Jenkins' induction into the Eagles Hall of Fame on November 28, 2025, making him the first member of the Super Bowl LII championship team to receive the honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby celebrates and congratulates Malcolm Jenkins for his induction into the Eagles Hall of Fame and recognizes his exceptional achievements as a player, leader, advocate, and champion for justice; and FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Malcolm Jenkins as a testament to the City's appreciation of his contributions to Philadelphia, both on and off the field. ..End
