..Title Also naming the 4700 Block of Wyalusing Avenue as "Philadelphia Masjid Way" in recognition of over 50 years of faith, service, leadership, and community excellence. ..Body WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Masjid, located at 4700 Wyalusing Avenue in West Philadelphia, has served as a cornerstone institution for more than five decades, built upon the vision, sacrifice, and discipline of pioneering men and women whose leadership laid the foundation for generations to follow; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Masjid has upheld a standard of excellence rooted in faith, service, education, unity, and community empowerment, providing youth mentorship, scholarship opportunities, food distribution programs, trauma support, and spiritual guidance to families throughout Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Masjid has consistently encouraged the development of young leaders by teaching them to respect and honor the paths paved by their pioneers, instilling values of discipline, accountability, humility, and service so that each new generation builds upon, rather than forgets, the sacrifices of those who came before them; and WHEREAS, Through scholarship initiatives such as the Young Kings & Queens Scholarship Fund and mentoring programs, the Philadelphia Masjid has helped youth achieve higher education, leadership development, and generational opportunity while maintaining a deep respect for community history and legacy; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Masjid has stood in unity with people of all faiths and backgrounds, fostering interfaith partnerships and community collaboration that strengthen neighborhoods across Philadelphia, regardless of religion, race, or culture; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Masjid has addressed urgent community needs by working to reduce gun violence, support families impacted by trauma, provide food to families facing insecurity, and partner with civic leaders, schools, and victim-service organizations to uplift communities in times of crisis; and WHEREAS, For over 50 years, the Philadelphia Masjid has remained community-driven and service-focused, demonstrating that faith in action can transform lives and neighborhoods; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 4700 Block of Wyalusing Avenue also be named "Philadelphia Masjid Way" to commemorate its historic impact and lasting legacy of faith, unity, youth leadership, and community excellence. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to the leadership of the Philadelphia Masjid as evidence of the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body. ..End
