..Title Also naming the 5100 Block of Chester Avenue as "Paul Ellis Hill Way" to honor the life, legacy, and community impact of Paul Ellis Hill in the Kingsessing neighborhood. ..Body WHEREAS, Paul Ellis Hill was a lifelong member of the Kingsessing community whose presence and work left a lasting impact on neighbors, families, and generations of young people; and WHEREAS, For decades, Paul served as a dedicated barber, and his barbershop became far more than a place of business-it was a cornerstone of the neighborhood, a safe and welcoming space where conversations flourished, wisdom was shared, and community bonds were strengthened; and WHEREAS, Through his work, Paul became a trusted figure across generations, mentoring young men and offering guidance, discipline, and encouragement, often shaping their confidence and direction long after they left his chair; and WHEREAS, Paul was known as a pillar of the community-a man of integrity, respect, and leadership-whose influence extended well beyond his shop and whose impact continues to be felt in the lives of those he mentored and supported; and WHEREAS, Paul Ellis Hill was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend whose life embodied the values of service, compassion, and community-building; and WHEREAS, Also naming this block as "Paul Ellis Hill Way" would serve as a daily reminder of his life's work-building people up, creating community, and leaving the world better than he found it; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 5100 Block of Chester Avenue also be named "Paul Ellis Hill Way" to honor his life, his service, and his lasting contributions to the Kingsessing community. ..End
