..Title Celebrating and honoring Ben Dubin on his retirement after 33 years of dedicated service, unwavering leadership, and a lasting impact on students, athletes, and the school community. ..Body WHEREAS, Ben is born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, and a proud graduate of George Washington High School's Class of 1988, where he was a basketball player for all four years; and WHEREAS, Ben began his career with the School District of Philadelphia in 1993 as a teacher at Gillespie Middle School, where he also served as the girls' basketball coach from 1993 to 1999, compiling an outstanding 62-19 record. He continued his coaching career as the varsity basketball coach at Samuel Fels High School from 1999 to 2001; and WHEREAS, In 2001, Ben joined Frankford High School, where he served as a teacher, Dean of Students and Athletic Director. His teams achieved significant success, including a Public League Runner-up finish in 2008, the PIAA District XII 4A Championship in 2008, and runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2009. As Athletic Director, he has been a strong leader and advocate for student athletics, promoting sportsmanship, opportunity, and excellence across all programs. Since 2010, he has also served as the Philadelphia Public League Boys Basketball Chairperson, further demonstrating his commitment to athletics Citywide; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he earned many honors, including Northeast Times Boys Basketball Coach of the Year (2008-2009), Philadelphia School District Athletic Administrator of the Year (2011), Philadelphia Coaches Association Athletic Administrator of the Year (2015), and Philadelphia Coaches Association Athletic Director of the Year (2024); and WHEREAS, Aside from his career accomplishments, Ben is a devoted husband to Stephanie Dubin, and a proud father of two daughters, he has always supported them in all they do, whether attending events, driving to tournaments, or encouraging them to work hard and grow; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors and congratulates Ben Dubin on his retirement after 33 years of dedicated service to the City and its education system, and commends him for his unwavering leadership and lasting impact on students, athletes, and the school community. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution will be presented to Ben Dubin and his family as a sincere expression of the City Council of Philadelphia's gratitude to honor this occasion. ..End
