..Title Recognizing the creation of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance's Cultural Cabinet. ..Body WHEREAS, Philadelphia is frequently recognized for its contributions to global arts and culture; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1972, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is the region's premier leadership, advocacy, and audience development organization for arts and culture; and WHEREAS, The Alliance has a proven track record for pulling groups together, dating back to the 1970's, when it coordinated arts activities for the nation's Bicentennial Celebration, and more recently, in 2008, when it served as local host to more than 1,400 arts leaders attending the Americans for the Arts Convention in Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, The Cultural Cabinet is a new group of leaders who value the significant role that arts and culture play in our region's economy and quality of life; and WHEREAS, The goal of the Cultural Cabinet is to strengthen the cultural sector by supporting the Cultural Alliance's policy and community-engagement work through their contributions of expertise, advice and resources; now therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize the creation of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance's Cultural Cabinet. ..End
