..Title Amending Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Bicycle Lanes," by authorizing the Department of Streets to designate bicycle lanes, in both directions, on American Street from Jefferson Street to Lehigh Avenue and for the removal of a travel lane on American Street, in the same limits, all under certain terms and conditions. ..Body THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 12-700. BICYCLE LANES. § 12-701. Designation of Bicycle Lanes. (1) A bicycle lane that requires the removal of a parking lane, a travel lane, or both, may be designated upon a street only when authorized by subsection (2) of this Section. (2) The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations: * * * (b) American Street, from Jefferson Street to Lehigh Avenue: One bicycle lane in each direction and the removal of a travel lane in each direction on that portion of American Street.
