..Title Honoring and congratulating the Northeast High School Football team, on their successful 2019-2020 season and overall 12-2 record in the Philadelphia Public Football League. ..Body WHEREAS, The Northeast football team is led by Northeast High School head coach and athletic director, Phil Gormley; and WHEREAS, The Vikings victories were assisted by Northeast and Penn State alumni player, Deion Barne. As defensive coordinator, he has motivated all Northeast Football players to play with determination, strength, and skill that has led them to become Philadelphia Public League champions; and WHEREAS, The team has ranked 29th overall in Pennsylvania and 15th in the Pennsylvania Division 6A division; and WHEREAS, The Northeast Vikings finished their conference games league games with a 5-0 undefeated record. The team outscored its opponents with a combined 272-18 points that included 5 shutouts; and WHEREAS, Players Keino Salmon and Tyrece Mills returned interceptions for touchdowns to clinch the Philadelphia Public League 6A championship win against Olney in November. Salmon, following the playoff game against Olney, was recognized as the MVP of the game while Mills was named the Inquirer's All-Southeastern football team for 2019, and is now playing Defensive Back at Lackawanna College; and WHEREAS, The Northeast High school's vision statement is, "Our students will become contributing, socially responsible, goal-oriented, and productive members of a global society. Our faculty and staff are a community of lifelong learners who serve as trusted educational resources to the greater Philadelphia area and beyond"; and RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor the Vikings of the Northeast football team on their 2019/2020 Philadelphia Public League championship win. ..End
