..Title Honoring Stephanie Resnick on her receipt of the prestigious Judge Learned Hand Award from the American Jewish Committee in Philadelphia for her distinguished legal career. ..Body WHEREAS, Stephanie Resnick, Managing Partner of Fox Rothschild's Philadelphia office, will be honored in February of 2021 with the Judge Learned Hand Award given by the American Jewish Committee; and WHEREAS, The Judge Learned Hand Award is named after Judge Learned Hand, the jurist famed for his unparalleled command of legal writing and his ability to interpret statutes in novel frameworks providing clarity of the law still employed by lawyers today; and WHEREAS, Ms. Resnick is a trailblazer among women in reaching the pinnacle of success in law firms. Prior to being named Managing Partner, Ms. Resnick was Chair of the firm's national Litigation Department. She is also Chair of the firm's Directors' and Officers' Liability & Corporate Governance practice group; and WHEREAS, Ms. Resnick is lauded for her handling of sophisticated business litigation. She regularly appears in state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums, where she has earned a reputation for sound judgment and innovative problem solving. For six consecutive years Ms. Resnick has been named in "The Best Lawyers in America" in Commercial Litigation. Benchmark Litigation lists her among the "Top 250 Female Litigators in America" and as a "Litigation Star" in Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, Moreover, Ms. Resnick has been ranked by Chambers USA for more than a decade as a leading litigator in Pennsylvania, and was named by the National Law Journal as a "Trailblazer" in Litigation and has been recognized among the "Top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania," the "Top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania," and the "Top 100 Lawyers in Philadelphia" by Philadelphia Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine, and for many years has been named as a "Super Lawyer" ;and WHEREAS, Ms. Resnick is also a recipient of the coveted Sandra Day O'Connor Award, presented by the Philadelphia Bar Association. Named for the first woman justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, the award has been conferred annually since 1993 on a woman attorney who has achieved the highest degree of professional excellence in her field and has visibly used her position and stature in the community to mentor, promote and advance other women lawyers; and WHEREAS, In addition to her leadership in Philadelphia's legal community, Ms. Resnick has served on a variety nonprofit boards including the Corporate Executive Board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Women's Way, as Chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention of the Philadelphia Bar Association and as Chair of Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors Stephanie Resnick on her receipt of the prestigious Judge Learned Hand Award from the American Jewish Committee in Philadelphia for her distinguished legal career. ..End
