..Title Renaming and designating the property commonly referred to as Wissinoming Park, located at 5801 Frankford Ave, as "Margaret Tartaglione Park" in the City of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, Margaret "Marge" Tartaglione, a lifelong Philadelphian who, in partnership with her husband Eugene, raised a devoted family of five children. As a proud matriarch she was deeply committed to her children, as well as many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, both personally and professionally, Marge exemplified unwavering dedication, resilience, and loyalty; and WHEREAS, Marge Tartaglione played a vital role in managing Philadelphia's elections and upholding the integrity of its democratic systems through her role on the Board of City Commissioners; and WHEREAS, Marge Tartaglione is recognized for her strong will and formidable presence as she has broken through barriers for women in politics during an era of limited representation, and gained respect as an advocate for her constituents and colleagues; and WHEREAS, As the longtime Democratic Leader of the 62nd Ward in Northeast Philadelphia, Marge Tartaglione was a deeply rooted presence in her community, hosting political meetings in her Oxford Circle home that reflected her unwavering commitment to local engagement; and WHEREAS, Marge Tartaglione guided and inspired multiple generations of political leaders, championed opportunities for women in public service, and consistently prioritized grassroots issues, from street repairs to community safety, staying true to her commitment to serve the people of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, Her legacy continues to live through her family and the many Philadelphia residents whose lives were shaped by her service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public life; now, therefore, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1: Wissinoming Park located at 5801 Frankford Ave is hereby renamed and designated as "Margaret Tartaglione Park" SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately. ..End
