Maurer, Secretary SUBMISSIONS 225-227 Spruce Street - Alesker & Shafer, Architects. Preliminary plans for review. It was stated that this property is to remain in commercial use for the lifetime of the present owners, but to be restored with a domestic facade. It was recommended that the main door have a transom; that its position should be further studied. So should the westernmost first story window. The front of the building should be cleaned down in order to find the exact position of the original door. The number of lights in sash, first, second and third floors should be restudied. There should be a side door to the yard instead of three French windows. The three belt courses must be retained; they do not show in the drawing. The present dormers must be carefully repaired and not changed in any way. Another drawing is required before approval on the work can be given. 274 South Third Street:- John Burris, Architect. A second review. It was the consensus that the Commission will stand on the letter written 22 July as regards the position it has taken on the door and shutters. 220 Pine Street. It was recommended that correct shutters be hung, that the Commission be given drawings of these, but that the present door may remain with the understanding that no plaque can be assigned until it has been replaced by a door correct for the period. REQUESTS FOR DEMOLITION APPROVAL 623 South Hancock Street. Demolition is denied. 1128, 1138, 1140, 1142 Lombard Street; 501, 503, 505, 507 S. 12th Street. No action was taken, pending word from City Planning Commission that it has reviewed and approved the plans. The secretary was directed to consult Mr. Childs. PLAQUES REQUESTED 335 South Third Street. It was stated that the work is not finished and that approval for the plaque is contingent upon this and upon a photograph showing the completed restoration. A plaque is authorised. 530 Cypress Street. This building, not certified when rehabilitated, merits an Award of Merit in recognition of its greatly improved appearance. List of Architects, approved by the Old Philadelphia Development Corporation. It was the concensus that the Committee can take no action on this list but is unanimously of the opinion that this Commission cannot properly recommend either architects or contractors. The brochure proposed by the Old Philadelphia Development Corporation. It is understood that most of the illustrations will be OPDC reductions of the George A. Robbins drawings.
