Maurer, Secretary SUBMISSIONS 314, 316 South Third Street. The architect is to be complimented for his excellent presentation. The Commission recommends a brick wall on the north facade, since this will be visible from a public street. It is also recommended that the architect check the glass sizes carefully, as it seems as though the third story sash should be three over six and the back windows eight over eight. This should be confirmed for the Commission's records. A permit may be obtained meanwhile. 519 Delancey Street. The Commission withholds comment on the application for a permit to install air conditioning. Mr. Lloyd approved it. 231 Spruce Street. It was recommended that the two exposed con- densers, visible on the roof from the rear, be relocated on the ground, or else grouped and enclosed behind a screen enclosure. 521 Delancey Street. The drawing is approved with the recommendation that panelled shutters be used at the second floor level as well as at the first, as shown in the 1916 photograph. Chamounix. Storm windows are permitted, if the frames match the existing trim. 1327, 1329, 1331, 1333 Modman Street. The Commission requires a drawing of the shutters for these buildings, with indications of the precise size and profile of the panels. PROBLEMS 217 Delancey Street. A reply to the letter from Mr. R. T. Trump shall ask for his evidence, explaining the first paragraph of his letter dated 8 January, 1965 in which he says "we know the old wall had been there since the Eighteenth Century". How does he know and who interpreted the evidence he mentions? Mr. Pedersen agreed to view the wall in question and the Com- mission will endeavor to find out when battlments were first required. It was determined that, of course, the Historical Commission will stand behind the Redevelopment Authority in its specifications for these properties and it looks forwarding to reviewing the drawings for the restoration of these certified

It was recommended that the paint be removed and a silicone waterproofing product be used. It was further recommended that if aluminum shutters of correct design be used – in the correct style for the 1840's – that the Commission would approve them. It is understood that they must be correctly hung. A sample shutter or a measured drawing of it, should be submitted for review. In general, the Historical Commission recommends no paint on buildings to be restored. However, in the small streets of Washington Square West, if certified buildings are already painted, the Commission will approve further painting, as that which is well maintained. Mr. Lloyd agreed to view the above properties. The matter was tabled for the time being. 310 South Fourth Street. Mr. Lloyd reported that the garage door had collapsed recently and that the new door now installed is a temporary measure. No action is required at this time. Musical Fund Hall. As stated in the Minutes of the Stated Meeting of 26 May, 1964, the Commission, in reply to a query from the Redevelopment Authority, agrees that a complete restoration of both interior and exterior of this building is not feasible at this time. The Addison Hutton facade may be kept for the present. The Commission hopes, however, that a full restoration of the LeBrun facade would be undertaken later.
