Debbie Valenti, Draftsperson, Shelly Rosen and Mark Cohen, Owners, to present their proposal for the rehabilitation of 2047 Green Street. Frank Weise, Architect, to submit for review his proposal for the renovation of the facade of 1926 Green Street. David Alan Goldstein, Architect, to resubmit a proposal for the rehabilitation of the facade of 52 South 2nd Street. Mr. Galavin, representing Joseph Abiola, Engineer, and Mr. Feldman to discuss with the Committee a proposal for alterations to the Annex Building of the Episcopal Hospital. Erich R. Burkhardt, Architect, to present his plan for the construction of a rear addition to 223 Carpenter Street. SUBMISSIONS FOR ALTERATIONS 235 Bainbridge Street, Irving Shapiro, Architect. Mr. Shapiro presented to the Committee for review his plans for the restoration of the two-and-a-half story building located at 235 Bainbridge Street. Owing to the poor structural condition of the front wall, Mr. Shapiro requested the Committee's permission to dismantle the front wall and rebuild it. The Committee agreed to allow the reconstruction of this wall provided that an accurate record of the existing original openings be made before demolition and that that record be adhered to in the reconstruction. Moreover, the Committee asked that the face brick be salvaged and reused in the reconstruction. New brick to be used in the reconstruction should match the original in size, color and texture and should be laid up in Flemish bond with the proper mortar color and joint. ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 2 18 April 1979 The Committee approved the proposal as submitted, in concept, and requested the submission of details for door, window frames, shutters and pent cave. It was recommended that the window frame on the first floor be dropped one or two courses of brick and that the sash within the two openings contain six

Each piece of glass should measure approximately 8 x 10 inches. Finally, it was agreed that the existing roofline should remain unchanged and that the rear projection should be covered with shingles. 1043 Lombard Street, Irving Shapiro, Architect. Mr. Shapiro presented his proposal for the restoration of 1043 Lombard Street to the Committee for review. The Committee recommended the approval of the architect's proposal provided that the dormer and iron handrail detail for 1043 match those at 1039 Lombard Street. In addition, the drawing of the cellar bulkhead should be corrected to show only a small portion of the stone check and wider batten doors. Store #43 New Market Street, Bruce Koffler. Mr. Koffler presented to the Committee his request for permission to hang an awning on the facade of 425 South Second Street. The awning had previously hung within the New Market court on a contemporary structure. Since Mr. Koffler's business was being relocated to the Second Street building, he had hoped to be able to re-hang the existing awning on his new building at 425. Members of the Committee agreed that the awning was completely out of scale and character with the streetscape and voted to recommend to the Commission that Mr. Koffler's request be denied. The Committee urged Mr. Koffler to consider the installation of a simple canvas overhang. Examples of the kind of awning appropriate for use on the building were shown to the tenant. 2047 Green Street, Gallagher & Valenti. The Committee reviewed the owners' proposal for the rehabilitation of the building located at 2047 Green Street and agreed to recommend its approval subject to some minor changes. The Committee requested that the grills to be intruded into the Twenty- First Street elevation be aligned with the existing windows. In addition, the owners were requested to submit to the staff for review and approval samples of the paint colors to be used on both the brickwork and the wood trim. ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 3 18 April 1970 Since the owners are working with the existing fabric and not attempting to undertake a restoration, the building will not be eligible for a Commission plaque. 1926 Green Street, Frank Wiese, Architect. The Committee reviewed Mr. Wiese's proposal for the renovation of 1926 Green Street and voted to recommend its approval to the Commission. 52 South Second Street, David Alan Goldstein, Architect. Mr. Goldstein resubmitted his proposal for the renovation of 52 South Second Street to the Committee for another review. The Committee found the resubmission to be in accordance with the recommendations proposed at its March meeting and voted to recommend its approval to the Commission. Episcopal Hospital, Joseph Abiola, Engineer. Mr. Calabria, representing Mr. Abiola, presented to the Committee his firm's proposal for alterations to the Annex Building of the Episcopal Hospital located at Front Street and Lehigh Avenue. After considerable discussion, the Committee requested additional information on the project, particularly the hospital's long range plans for the remaining buildings. It was suggested that a two-phase drawing be prepared showing the several stages of work to be undertaken. In addition, the Committee requested the submission of photographs of the existing buildings, particularly the sections which are scheduled for demolition. It was agreed that a resubmission would be required and that the Project Engineer should be present to explain his proposal to the Committee members and to answer any questions which they might have concerning the proposed alterations. 223 Carpenter Street (rear addition), Erich R. Burchard, Architect. The Committee recommends the approval of the construction of a rear addition to 223 Carpenter Street as proposed by Mr. Burchard. 700-14 Spruce Street, Theodore T. Bartley, Jr., Architect. Mr. Bartley presented for review details for the restoration of the facades of 700-14 Spruce Street. In addition, he reported to the Committee on the need to rebuild a portion of the wall at 712 and 714 Spruce Street which is in poor structural condition. ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 4 18 April 1979 1037-37 Spruce Street (a revision of the rear elevation), Stephen Leibowitz, Architect. After some discussion of the two revised rear elevations for the Quay House, 1035-37 Spruce Street, it was decided that neither was acceptable. The Committee asked that the panels above the doors, leading to the balconies, on the rear elevation be approximately half the height of the door. If desired a glass transom may be substituted for the panel. In addition, the panel below the single window within the east bay of the Irving Street elevation should approximate the size of the window itself. The Committee asked that the architect be required to submit a revised elevation in accordance with the above recommendations. PLAQUES 105 South Second Street. The Committee recommends the approval of a Certified Restored plaque for 105 South Second Street. 114 Chestnut Street. Approval of a Certified Restored plaque is recommended. 120 Chestnut Street. Approval of a Certified Restored plaque is recommended.
