For Commissioner Costello MINUTES OF THE ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE MEETING 25 January 1968 SUBMISSIONS 122 Lombard Street (built in the 1790's). In reviewing the drawing of the elevation, it was determined that the doorway is too early in style; and the bulk window too late. The architect shall be invited to see examples of more appropriate designs for both features and asked to submit another drawing of the facade. Glass size for the second story windows should result in 6/9 or 9/6 sash and these should follow the construction and appearance of sash and frames of the third story windows. The Commission asks that the wood casing above the rear door be omitted; a belt course of brick would be sufficient if any break in the brick coursing is considered necessary. It is assumed that the Flemish bond of the original portious of the facade shall be matched in color, texture, mortar and striking; this should be spelled out in the new drawing of the elevation. As no original details remain on the interior of this building, no comment was made on the use of floor space. 315 Spruce Street. The architect shall be complimented on his fine details. The drawing is approved. The letter from the Commission shall say that it is assumed that the new brick will pracisely match the old in color, texture, mortar and striking; that new steps and water table will be of marble or cast stone. It is recommended that the railings shall match those at 309 Spruce; that the shutters above the first story be louvered. As no record of original interior fabric remaining is in the Commission's files, no comment on this point has been made. PLAQUES REQUESTED 521 Spruce Street. This is approved. 525 Pine Street. The owner shall be complimented on how much has been done toward full restoration, but shall be made aware of the reason why a plaque is not authorized - principally the inappropriate front steps and the small window, not original, at the second floor level. An Award of Merit, however, is appropriate and this shall be given. DEMOLITIONS The two applications listed on the agenda were referred to the Stated Meeting PROBLEMS 108-120 Pine, particularly 114 Pine Street. The Developers shall be asked to send a letter stating that the new facade to be built to replace the one which fell away when an "I" beam

The Developers shall be asked to send a letter stating that the new facade to be built to replace the one which fell away when an "I" beam was removed, will duplicate the original wall precisely.
