The Minutes of the Stated Meeting of the Philadelphia Historical Commission held on 3 January 1980 were approved and directed to be filed. The Report of the Architectural Committee for 16 January 1980, Herbert W. Levy, A.I.A., Chairman, Architectural Advisor to the Commission. The 16 January 1980 report was reviewed and a correction made. Under the heading of Plaques, the minute concerning 232 Spruce Street was changed to read "Mr. Bartley... reported to the Committee" rather than "reported to the Commission." Subject to this amendment, the Report of the Architectural Committee for 16 January 1980 was approved and directed to be filed with the official copy of the Minutes. The Report on Philadelphia Historical Commission Staff Activities for the month of January, Richard Tyler, Historian. The Historian reported to the Commission members on the current involvement and issues of the Historical Commission and its staff. Those items discussed included the preservation and adaptive re-use of the Musical Fund Hall, the Naval Home re-use study and the potential development of the Frankford Arsenal complex. In addition, Mr. Tyler described to the Commission members the findings of the Slate Roof House study and reported on the progress of the City Planning Commission's Comprehensive Historic Sites Survey. The THE 244th STATED MEETING 2 7 February 1980 preservation of the Scott-Wanamaker House and the development of this and the adjoining site remain an issue of concern to the Center City Residents Association. The Commission staff continues to work with the state and federal offices toward the resolution of this matter. As a result of research conducted by Marion Carroll and Jefferson Moak, a report on energy-related sites was submitted to the Office

The information compiled by Mrs. Carroll and Mr. Moak will form a part of an application for a federal grant to fund the development and/or acquisition of recreation sites. Finally, the Historian reported on the Philadelphia Historic Preservation Corporation, its problems, the possibility for its expansion outside of the Old City area and the facade easement program. The Commission members, following the Historian's presentation, thanked him for the detailed account of the staff's activities and voted to approve the report as presented. Before adjourning the Meeting, the Chairman thanked Mr. Rosenblum for his assistance to the Historical Commission as its legal counsel during the past several years. Mr. Rosenblum will no longer be representing the Commission. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.M.
