ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE MEETING, 24 & 25 June 1965 * SUBMISSIONS The Woodlands, Report No. 2 by G. Edwin Brumbaugh, FAIA. It was the consensus that Mr. Brumbaugh's report should be approved and his work be allowed to continue. 626 Spruce Street. Mr. Fraissman's treatment of the broad doorway was approved. 109 Pine Street. The use of two front windows was approved, if the sash is to be six over six (not as shown, nine over nine); and if the brick wall and iron gate sufficiently screen the proposed new structure. Details of the door and shutters are approved. 1301 Walnut Street, the Philadelphia Club. It was approved that an air conditioning duct may be installed inconspicuously in the corner above the billiard room. PROBLEMS 329 S. Third Street. The Commission could not approve the demolition of 321 S. Third and was inclined to disapprove the demolition of 329, the corner property, even though Mr. Fish indicated that a garden wall and appropriate gate would provide an good appearance. It was the opinion of Mr. Lloyd that the Redevelopment Authority would not approve the demolition of a corner at this intersection. Finally, the belief that approval to cut the curb would be very difficult to obtain. The matter was carried over until a quorum could consider the problem, or a better proposal from the architect were received. Old St. Paul's Church, 225 S. Third Street. It was recommended that a composition roof, such as used in Williamsburg and resembling shingles, be used. Plaques Requests for plaques for 215 Spruce, 308 Cypress and 274 S. Third were postponed to another meeting. * There was no formal meeting. Mr. Trautwein was unable to be present; Mr. Williams was not expected and Mr. Miller is still abroad. It was, therefore, necessary to review the plans individually. Mr. Williams, Mr. Pedersen and Mr. Lloyd have seen them. If Mr. Simon reviews the plans, the Minutes can stand as presented.
