Smith, Clerk Unless otherwise stated, all actions mentioned herein were taken after motions properly presented, seconded and carried. THE MINUTES of the July 26th Meeting were approved as circulated REPORTS Historic Values Committee. Individual action was taken on the following: Applications for plaques were requested for: - 8501 Germantown Avenue; 8433 Germantown Avenue. It was resolved that these should first be restored; if not, plaques for both are denied. 308 S. Philip Street. It was resolved that the owner should hang shutters, install a suitable door and remove baby blue paint on wood trim before a plaque can be authorized. 413 S. Tenth Street. Henry George's Birthplace. This must be restored before a plaque can be authorized. 601 S. Front Street. This must be restored before a plaque can be authorized. Race Street Meeting. It was resolved that a plaque be authorized. 224 S. Seventh Street. It was resolved a plaque may be authorized. The Commission suggested that correct design be hung. Action was deferred on 115 Elfreth's Alley, the building to be viewed by Dr. Tinkcom, before decision on whether a plaque can be authorized is decided. Benjamin Rush's Birthplace, Red Lion Road, SE of Academy Road. It was resolved that a letter be sent to the developer of the area, pointing out the historic value of this building, asking him to consider its preservation and use as a community center of similar use. It was resolved that an extension to his contract be given Richard S. Fuller, in the amount of $800.00. Dr. Nichols' Report was approved as read; it was

Mr. Trautwein's report was approved as read and ordered filed with the master copy of the Minutes. Action was taken on a report, just received, from the architect for 250 S. Fourth Street. It was resolved that the marble trim of the doorway, uncovered by removal of a later frontispiece, be repaired and the submitted design for the doorway be disregarded. Dr. Tinkcom's Report on the Commission's Activities. It was resolved that an honorarium be given Mrs. Graham in the amount of $150.00 for special projects assigned to her by the Historian. Dr. Tinkcom's report was approved and ordered filed with the master copy of the Minutes. Demolition by Neglect Mr. Carroll reports that the Law Department is working on this ordinance and is currently planning to make it a part of the Standard Building Code. The matter was deferred until more definite information is available. Crosstown Link between the two Expressways. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Congressman William Barrett of the Sixth Congressional District, calling his attention to the number of certified buildings involved in the proposed location, between South and Bainbridge Streets.
