MINUTES OF THE ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE MEETING, 24 November, 1961 Present were: Mr. George K. Trautwein, Chairman Mr. R. Norris Williams, II. Mr. Charles E. Peterson Also present: Mr. John F. Lloyd, for the Redevelopment Authority Margaret B. Tinkcom, Historian Mrs. Charles J. Maurer, Secretary Mr. Joseph B. Townsend, Jr., telephoned his regrets at being absent SUBMISSIONS 406, 408, 410 and 412 Spruce Street. The architect is to be asked to come and study the available records and look at an old photograph. The Commission approved the restoration of a shop window for 408 Spruce. 258 South Fourth Street. The Commission will approve this submission as a partial restoration, the side elevation is approved as submitted, with a recommendation to check the details of the cornice. A letter is to be sent to the owner stating the Commission's hope and expectation that the rest of the restoration would take place in the next three years and that when this phase has been completed, that the owner will request a plaque. 1247 Lombard Street. It was recommended that the lintels with their buttons be kept in every case. In particular, it was recommended that the owner be urged to keep the store front. Mr. Peterson offered to discuss this with the owner and report on the conversation. Other Matters Mr. Lloyd stated that he had no report on 226 or 234 Spruce, but would report on these two problems at an early date. The work on 260 South Fourth Street is unsatisfactory as far as the doorway is concerned. The Commission went on record as regretting that this must be counted as a partial restoration.
