The HISTORIC VALUES COMMITTEE met Monday, September 18, 1961, at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Present: Dr. Nichols, Chairman Mr. Williams Mrs. Tinkcom REQUESTS FOR PLAQUES The owners of the following properties requested plaques for their houses: 8501 Germantown Avenue and 8433 Germantown Avenue were considered and the Committee moved to refer this request to the Commission as a whole. It was its feeling that 8433 Germantown Avenue should be restored according to the Commission's requirements before a plaque could be issued. 308 S. Philip St. Dr. Tinkcom was requested to look at this house and report to the Committee. (Shutters should be hung, a more suitable door installed, and baby-blue paint removed from the window trim before a plaque should be issued. MET) 413 S. 10th St., Henry George's Birthplace. The house will have to be restored to its original appearance and bay window on the second floor removed before a plaque can be authorized. 601 S. Front St. The building should be restored before a plaque is authorized. Race Street Meeting, 15th & Race Sts. Request for a plaque was approved. 224 S. 7th St. Request for a plaque approved. 115 Elfreth's Alley.
