Maurer, Secretary SUBMISSIONS Action was confirmed for the following properties, already approved. √226 Lombard Street - interior work only √128 Lombard Street - interior work only √259 South 10th Street - alterations to the rear Friends' Select School √417 Spruce Street - interior work only and permission to demolish part or backbuilding, not part of original structure. √244 South Front Street - repairs to cornice and roof √NE cor 11th and Spruce - repairs to the cornice √209 Spruce Street - approval to demolish addition to backbuilding √243 Delancey Street - alteration to rear (a door and a bay window) 1102 Spruce Street - interior repairs following the recent fire. √417 Spruce Street. It was recommended that the present doorway framing be retained; that slat shutters be hung at the second and third floor windows; that a typical 1840 door be pointed out to the architect for reference and that he be referred to Mr. Peterson who has a good 1840 transom which can be copied. The architect is to complimented for his excellent presentation. √274 South Third Street. It was the consensus of the meeting that the door as shown is too late for this 1813 house and that the shutter pull is too high for easy closing. Another drawing, showing these details, is requested. √235 South Tenth Street. It was recommended that the owner be given approval to proceed with alterations to the interior second and third floors and that additional study be given details of the first floor, with particular reference to the bulk windows and the dormer. This corner property was originally an apothecary shop; it is intended to be used as a resturant-bar. It is further recommended that the architect be asked to study the available data including an insurance survey and old photographs before submitting another drawing of exterior details. Redevelopment Authority Proposals for Demolition in Unit II. It was noted that 402, 404, 406, 408, 410 and 412 S. Second Street were included in error. These houses are to be restored. It was recommended that this be restored. It was further recommended that a letter to Central Penn Bank, congratulating it for remaining in its fine building, be sent with suggestions that it try to find another way into its parking lot, thus making it unnecessary to demolish 324 S. 2nd St. 311 South Third Street. It was agreed that this might be demolished to increase the area of the existing parking lot. 312, 314 Delancey Street and 315 Fine Street. Demolition is proposed for these three buildings to make way for a Greenway. It was moved and seconded that this matter be discussed at the next Stated Meeting. This was approved. 206, 208 Stamper Street; 325, 237 Lombard Street. It was recommended that these remain, at least for the present until the immediate need for these facilities (a parking area) is evident. 325, 327, 329, 331, 333 Lombard Street. It was recommended that action on these buildings be delayed, and that the Historical Commission discuss with the Vestry of St. Peter's Church their plans for this area. In conclusion, it was recommended that the Historical Commission send a letter to the Redevelopment Authority, asking that specific information be given the Commission as to which of these buildings must, in its opinion, be demolished.
