MINUTES OF THE ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE MEETING 23 March 1967 Present: Mr. George K. Trautwein, Chairman Mr. Erling H. Pedersen, Old Philadelphia Development Corporation Dr. Margaret B. Tinkcom, Historian Mr. John Harbeson Mr. Brinton Martin, both of Carpenters' Company Mrs. Charles J. Maurer, Secretary SUBMISSIONS Carpenters' Company, 320 Chestnut Street. The Chairman invited Mr. Harbeson to give some background information for the present submission. This was discussed at length. Mr. Harbeson stated that the present partial submission will be reviewed at a meeting with Mr. M. O. Anderson, Superintendent of Independence National Historical Park on Monday, 27 March. After Messrs. Harbeson and Martin had been thanked for coming and were excused, it was decided to send a letter to Mr. Anderson by hand, Monday morning, stating the committee's objections to the incomplete set of drawings. It was understood that National Park Service had given only general approval to the proposal that restoration be undertaken; and not to the present set of drawings. 300 Spruce Street. The submission of doorway details is approved, with the comment that plain divisions in the transom are preferred. PLAQUES REQUESTED 1023, 1025 Waverly Street. It is the opinion of the committee that the quality of workmanship is not up to standard; that the finished work does not correspond to the approved drawings. Therefore, a plaque for either of these two buildings is denied. The letter to the owner shall show, as examples, that standard sash with six over six lights have been used rather than the approved six over twelve lights; that brick sills have been used rather than those of wood or stone; that the cellar windows were completely changed in size and position from those shown on the submitted drawings.
