Unless otherwise noted, all actions taken herein are the results of motions properly made, seconded and carried. The Minutes of the Stated Meeting of the Philadelphia Historical Commission held on 5 June 1980 were approved and directed to be filed. The Minutes of the Meeting of the Architectural Committee for 18 June 1980 were reviewed and approved. The Minutes of the 16 July 1980 meeting were reviewed and a motion made to table action on the O'Kane Rowhouse (Philadelphia Collegiate request for plaques for 127 to 129 North 4th Street. The Commission agreed not to act on this matter until Ben Fox, President of the Corporation, has an opportunity to appear before the Commission and present his case. All other items in the 16 July report were approved. The Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee on Certification for 11 July 1980, Edward Pinkowski, Chairman. The Commission verified individually and approved for certification each of the following buildings as recommended by the Certification Committee: 8000 S. Marlan Lane, Church of St. Martin in the Fields 129 West School House Lane, The James Matthews House 9401 East Park Place Street, First Baptist Church of Germantown 2140 Norris Street, Hanuokin 3542 Ridge Avenue, Laurel Hill Cemetery Gatehouse 1801-1819 Diamond Street, The George W. South Memorial Protestant Church of the Advocate 2-8 West Girard Avenue, a.k.a. 1118-1162 Frankford Avenue, Kensington National Bank Druin Hall Masonic House, 777 S. Valley Green Road 1217 North 5th Street STATED MEETING 2 7 August 1980 Concerning the proposed certification of 729 South 2nd Street, Mr. Lad Roos, Architect, and Mr. Irvin Udell, Owner, objected before the Commission to a request favorable action on this nomination. While the interior of the building has been treated sympathetically, the Commission members agreed that recent changes to the exterior

Concerning the proposed certification of 729 South 2nd Street, Mr. Lad Roos, Architect, and Mr. Irvin Udell, Owner, objected before the Commission to a request favorable action on this nomination. While the interior of the building has been treated sympathetically, the Commission members agreed that recent changes to the exterior of the structure were not compatible with the original character of the building. In agreement with the recommendation of its Committee on Certification, the Commission voted not to certify 729 South 2nd Street. Several buildings within the Old City National Register Historic District were revised in the Commission's continuing effort to certify, legally, those buildings entered on the list in 1972. The following buildings were approved for certification following the Committee's recommendation: 209-25 Race Street 129 Chestnut Street 1425-31 North 2nd Street 51-53 North 3rd Street 60-66 North 3rd Street The Commission voted to strike from the list the following buildings as recommended by its Committee: 111 Chestnut Street 309 Chestnut Street Although the Committee's recommendation had been in favor of the certification of 203-10 Race Street and 219-21 Race Street, the Commission voted not to certify these two buildings. An additional motion to strike 203-10 Race Street from the Commission's list was made, seconded and carried. Action on 313 Chestnut Street was tabled pending a further study of the building and its relationship to the adjoining bank structure. The Commission voted to send this item back to the Committee on Certification for additional consideration. Report on Philadelphia Historical Commission Staff Activities for the months of June and July, Richard Taylor, Historian. The Historian's report was approved and directed to be filed with the official copy of the Minutes. STATED MEETING 3 7 August 1920 NEW BUSINESS Appointment of Architectural Historian. The Historian announced the appointment of Patricia Skaletzkowski to the position of Architectural Historian by the Commission of Public Property in coordination with the Chairman; and sought the concurrence of the Commission on this action. The Commission unanimously and enthusiastically concurred. Mr. Tyler also conferred with the Commission the procedure proposed in consultation with the Comptroller and is. Chairman for the appointment of a successor to Miss Stanczylowski as Executive Secretary. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:20 P.M.
