Livingston, Jr., Architect, to present his plan for the restoration of the buildings situate at the southwest corner of Front and Chestnut Streets (a.k.a. 100-02 Chestnut Street and 103 South Front Street). David Brady, contractor, to discuss with the Committee renovations to the Horrid House, 225 South Eighth Street. Keith Richards to present to the Committee for discussion the problem of roof repairs to the St. Mary's Episcopal Church situate at 2306 + ½ Locust Walk. Arnold Levin concerning the Committee's refusal to recommend to the Commission the erecting of a plaque to the building situate at 711 Pine Street. SUBMISSIONS Southeast corner of Front and Chestnut Streets (a.k.a. 100-02 Chestnut Street and 103 South Front Street), Walter R. Livingston, Jr., and Lester Rosenwinkel, Architects. Mr. Livingston reported to the Committee that the buildings had been stabilized as required by the Department of Licenses and Inspections and that he had received the information concerning proposed grade changes in the area. With this information in hand Mr. Livingston prepared the plans which he then submitted to the Committee for review. After some discussion, the Committee agreed to recommend the approval of the proposal with the requirement that a third column be added to the Front Street facade of the building in order to retain the rhythm of the fenestration. Also, the Committee voted to accept the use of a deep bronze chromatic aluminum. 211 Monroe Street, Yungshcel Kim, Architect. The Committee reviewed the drawing by Mr. Kim and found that it was not drawn to scale. The Committee recommends that the Commission ask the architect to redraw the elevation accurately and to resubmit. Furthermore, the Committee recommended that the arch over the alley be opened, if possible. The staff will provide the architect with details of the period. The Committee reaffirmed the approval of the concept of the restoration. However, door, transom and shutter details are required. Also, any pointing should conform to the existing in color, texture and type of joints. A period lighting fixture would be acceptable. 225 South Eighth Street, G. Edim Brashbaugh, Architect. Mr. Brady, contractor for this project, presented the plan to the Committee calling for the conversion of an existing shutter opening into a door opening on the side of the building. The Committee recommends the approval of this request. Stanton Mansion, Eighteenth and Courtland Streets, John Diskey, Architect. Mr. Diskey's plan to innovate the existing building was reviewed by the Committee. Approval is recommended. Two Tavern (courtesy review), H.P.D. The staff presented to the Committee the plan for the reconstruction of the Two Tavern. Since the building will by new construction, the Committee noted that it had no jurisdiction in this matter and recommends that the Commission make no comment. REHABILITATION SPECIFICATIONS 234-38 Pine Street. The specifications, as read by the Historain, were approved with the requirements that the iron railings be repaired or replaced with railings typical of the period; shutters to hang on the Eighth Street elevation; the louvers in the front and side will be removed patching the openings with brick to match the existing; and, installing a drain box on the Eighth Street facade. The Committee also questioned the side elevation. It was agreed that a prideton be called to examine the existing joinery and drawdown the proposal to install an additional window. 3619 Locust Street. The owner's request for information on the restoration of this building was brought to the Committee's attention. Mr. Levy agreed to inspect the building and report his findings to the Committee at its next meeting. PROBLEMS St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 3916 Locust Walk. Keith Richards representing the church requested advice from the Committee concerning renovations to the roof of the building. A portion of the roof, especially in a patterned slate, is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. The cost of replacing the slate is prohibitive and, unfortunately, the pattern cannot be duplicated in asphalt shingle. After

After some discussion, the Committee asked that the Commission allow the roof to be replaced in asphalt and that the church also be asked to photograph and document the existing roof and salvage some of the material. The mark is stylized but not clearly legible in this reproduction.] ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 3 27 March 1976 PLAQUES 711 Pine Street. Arnold Levit appeared before the Architectural Committee to ask the Committee to reconsider its recommendation to the Commission that the house be denied a plaque. Mr. Levit alleges that he received an approval from the staff concerning the treatment of the front door at 711 Pine Street and that in view of this the building should be issued a plaque. After some discussion, Mr. Levit was excused and the Committee voted to table the matter for further consideration. 2011 Delancey Street. The Committee, at the request of the owner, once again reviewed the eligibility of this building for a plaque. Mr. Tyler was asked to inspect the structure and report his findings to the Committee. 140 Lombard Street. The Committee recommends the approval of this request. 117 Kenilworth Street. The Committee cannot recommend the issuance of a plaque to this building until the door to the alley is replaced with a simple batten door. Bankers Row - 124, 127 and 131 Chestnut Street. The Committee recommends that the Commission not issue a plaque to these three buildings until they are restored. The building situate at 121 requires extensive repairs and the removal of air conditioners in the front facade. The building, 127 Chestnut Street, must have the louvers on the second floor removed as well as the air conditioning units. The building, 131 Chestnut Street, must have the louvers removed and the original sash restored. 2223 Green Street.
