MINUTES OF THE ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE OF THE PHILADELPHIA HISTORICAL COMMISSION 19 September 1972 Present: Mr. Henry J. Dickey, A.I.A. The Committee approved this submission as preliminary and requested that a further study of the closing of the windows on the Clinton Street elevation be made and explained in more detail. (Were the windows originally there or not?) It was also noted that the shutters' never never should be lowered to allow the shutters to operate and that the sash for the dormer window is incorrect. A resubmission is requested. 725-27 Delanocey Street, Theodore T. Bartley, Jr., A.I.A. Approved. 223 South Quince Street, S. R. Marinnucci, Contractor. The Committee did not approve the drawing as submitted. An architect should be hired who can present accurate drawings for this Board's review. 537 Pine Street, John P. Lloyd, A.I.A. Preliminary approval was granted. A full set of working drawings with details is now requested. 110 Queen Street, Bruce Smith, Owner. The Committee expressed general approval of the work to be done as outlined in the owner's letter to the Commission but noted that architectural drawings will be required for the Commission's review. 700 South Front Street (windows only), Lanny L. Leibowitz, A.I.A. It was the opinion of the Committee that the window frame and sash on the first floor should follow the arch which exists there. Details of other windows are approved. Before any more work can be done on this building, a full set of drawings must be submitted for this committee's review. RESUBMISSIONS 2047 Cherry Street, Weld Cove, Owner. A resubmission of the proposed solarium at the rear of this property, in accordance with this committee's recommendations, was approved. It was suggested that a brick formed circular opening around the present frame sill of the lower would be appropriate for this 1837 building. A drawing will be needed for the committee's review. 811-17 North Seventh Street, Russian Church of St. Nicholas, L. C. Scipione, A.I.A. Mr. Pedersen will prepare a report on his visit to the church with Mr. Scipione for the October 5th meeting of the Philadelphia Historical Commission Board. The architect and Building Committee will be invited to the Commission meeting, October 5, at which time the matter will be discussed. PLAQUES 2038 Cherry Street. Approved. 120 North Lambert Street. Approved. 224 Delancey Street. A plaque will not be awarded to this property until the owner has met all Redevelopment Authority specifications. 216 Carpenter Street. A plaque cannot be awarded this certified building until proper shutters are hung. 311 Queen Street. The Committee will be pleased to give the owner an Award of Merit for his careful maintenance of this certified building but cannot place a plaque since the house has not been fully restored according to plans approved by the Commission.
