Maurer, Secretary The Chairman asked Mr. Praissman to state his reasons for being present. Mr. Praissman assured the meeting that he is aware that he agreed to change the present facade of 238 South Third Street to a reconstruction of its original state, with care and precise details, but that this presented problems in relation to the building on either side. Heasked if the Commission would reverse its stand, allowing him to preserve the Wilson Eyre front. The Chairman stated that he had polled the Members of the Commission and that the resolution must stand. There is no recourse to this decision. Shutters may be panneled at second story as well as first; omitted at third level. SUBMISSIONS 227 South Fourth Street. The second drawing, with details requested at a former meeting are approved and the architect complimented on his clear presentation. 236 Spruce Street. Drawing of the penteave approved. 5139 Germantown Avenue. Drawing not approved. Letter to owner is to suggest an 18th century shop front with an assurance that he will gain by following hissuggestion. PROPOSALS 913 Spruce Street. Application for approval to demolish this is given. (Mr. Lloyd stated that it will be at least eighteen months before the Redevelopment Authority will have jurisdiction in the area. 329 South Third Street. Request to maintain the building as a store is approved, as it complied with Redevelopment Authority regulations for owner-occupancy and one attendant, and because the building was constructed as a store in the first place. The letter to be sent to Dean G. Holmes Perkins, in reply to his request to remove a portion of the back- building and to replace it with a garage and a garden on the roof shall state that the Commission agrees in principle with his point of view, but that it will probably require a Zoning variance, as 110% use of yardspace is not permitted. It is recommended that the owner paint the trim and change the sash where necessary, leaving other details of the facade as they are. 209 Spruce Street. It was approved that Mr. Lloyd try to get assurance from the owner that the recommended change from stock door to one appropriate for the period will be carried out forthwith. PLAQUES 215 Spruce Street. This may be authorized when the recommended work is completed. Meanwhile, work already accomplished is most commendable. 528 Delancey Street. Plaque denied until pointing is much improved. 533 Delancey Street. Plaque denied because of incorrect cornice. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50.P.M.
