Present: Brownlee, Chairman of Designation David Baldinger, Deputy Director, Commission Caroline Golab t1yers cast Sandra Tatman cast Janet Klein votes by votes Planner, on Historic Planning Historical Also: Trumbull, Preservation Coalition of Greater Philadelphia Nl>lv BUSINESS Committee nominations the architectural resources: nistoric District The Corrnnittee walked the proposed Girard Estate Historic District earlier the same day. They met at the Historical Commission offices to vote on the first stage of district nomination review, Resource Identification. The Committee voted unaniraously that a potential historic district exist in the proximity of the Girard Park at 21st and Shunk Streets in South Philadelphia. In addition the Co1rnnittee th.:1t the drawn on the submitted by Ms. rrrumbull are basically correct ,lith the addition of the rows of garages between 20th and 21st Streets. 'rhe Cmtunittee also discussed the Spruce Bill District which has already been visited by several members. They agreed that consideration of that district should begin at stage three or Final Resource Identification because of the amount of informa.l review that has already occurred. Knickerbocker Boyd, Architect 1893 Anne rcansion, the oldest house in Overbrook Farn1s as Luther Bent, of the Pennsylvania Company. At the meeting it wws determined that the house is to be torn down by the Talmudic Yeshiva Philadelphia. The Yeshiva obtained both a demolition and zoning approval for a new dormitory to be built on the site. They have partaken in a dialogue with the neighborhood over reuse of the building and have come to the conclusion that reuse is voted to not consider designation of this building. submitted, Randal Baron Preservation
