MINUTES OF THE 194th STATED MEETING OF THE PHILADELPHIA HISTORICAL COMMISSION 5 June 1975 Dr. F. Otto Haas, Chairman Present: F. Otto Haas, Chairman Charles R. Tyson, Vice Chairman Edward Pinkowski Robert Silver, Commissioner, Department of Public Property David Rosenbliu, Esq., Assistant City Solicitor Richard Tyler, Historian Also: Thomas Hine, PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER Unless otherwise noted, all action taken herein is the result of motions correctly made, seconded and carried. THE MINUTES of the Stated Meeting, 1 May 1975, were approved and directed to be filed. REPORTS The Report of the Architectural Committee for 20 May 1975 was approved by the Commission and directed to be filed with the official copy of the Minutes. Nominations for the Certification of Buildings, Dr. Richard Tyler, Historian. At the request of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, the building located at 410 South Tenth Street was reviewed and approved for certification. Commission Activities, Report on, Dr. Richard Tyler, Historian. Dr. Tyler presented an oral report on the staff's activities for the month of April. The report was approved and a copy of it directed to be filed with the official copy of the Minutes. OLD BUSINESS There were no matters to be discussed under this heading. MINUTES 2 5 June 1975 NEW BUSINESS Appointment of a new member to the Architectural Committee, F. Otto Haas, Chairman, and Richard Tyler, Historian. After a brief discussion of this proposal, the Commission empowered the Chairman to act on the matter at his discretion. Proposal for the placement of a replica of the Liberty on the Bourse Building, Richard Tyler, Historian. The proposal to place a replica on the roof of the Bourse Building was discussed by the Commission in general terms. Dr. Tyler reported to the Commission what he knew of the project from the architect. The Commission decided that it would take no position until after review scheduled by the Art Commission on 10 June. If approved by that Commission, the proposal will then be placed before the Architectural Committee for recommendation according to the Historical Commission's regular procedure. Endorsement of the application by the City for improvements to the Parkway and the historic area, Richard Tyler, Historian. Following a description by the Historian of this project, the Commission endorsed it enthusiastically. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.M.
