The Minutes of the Stated Meeting held on 8 October 1981 were approved and directed to be filed. The Report of the Architectural Committee for 21 October 1981, Herbert W. Levy, A.I.A., Chairman, was reviewed and a correction made. The minute concerning 227 South 9th Street was corrected to read "the issuance of a Certified Altered plaque is recommended for 227 South 9th Street" in place of "the issuance of a Certified Restored plaque....." The Commission approved the Report, as amended, and directed that it be filed with the official copy of the Minutes. The Report on Philadelphia Historical Commission Staff Activities for the month of October, 1981, Richard Tyler, Historian. Mr. Tyler reported to the Commission on the present status of the Naval Home. The General Services Administration has put the property up for private bid. Approximately seventy-one requests for the bid package, which contains historic preservation provisions, have been received by the GSA. Mr. Tyler also discussed with the Commission members the latest developments regarding the preservation of the Lit Brothers Department Store. A prospective buyer has expressed some interest in the preservation of the facades of the buildings with surface parking behind. While the City is anxious to see the facades preserved, all issues relating to the future development of the property have not yet been resolved and no final resolution of the matter has been reached.
