SUBMISSIONS 734 South Front Street, Art Bascieno, Architect. The Committee reviewed the plans for the complete restoration of this building prepared by Mr. Bascieno and recommends their approval to the Commission. John Wanamakers Store, Thirteenth and Market Streets. Approval for altera- tions to the Grand Court, to consist of the enclosure of the Main Gallery, Center Section, behind the railing on both the Juniper and Thirteenth Street sides, is recommended. 114 Fairmount Avenue, U.S. Roofing Corporation. The Committee recommends that a final approval not be given to this project at this time. A more detailed elevation is required as well as shutter details. The Committee also suggested that the existing transom be studied to determine whether or not it is original. Penn Treaty Park (courtesy review), Thomas Franklin Hanns, Architect. The proposed renovation of the park was found to be acceptable to the Committee and its endorsement is recommended. 1907 Green Street, Andreas Sagagy, Architect. The Commission is asked to require the resubmission of an accurately drawn and more detailed elevation for this building. Window and door details are also required. 900 Spruce Street, Michael Horn, Architect. After the submission of drawings and the discussion of several items of concern to the Washington Square West Project Area Committee, the members agreed to recommend preliminary approval of the proposal with the requirement that the gable wall of the main building be restored by removing the stucco and cleaning and repointing the original brickwork. Since the existing four panel door on the High Street side of the building appears to be original, the Committee asks that it be retained. The condemnect use of small panes of glass on the sliding glass doors on the rear elevation is recommended as suggested by the Project Area Committee for Washington Square West. In regard to the iron railings, the architect should be directed to investigate the existence of original fabric on the street and incorporate his findings into the final working drawings along with details of all mouldings. 919 Spruce Street, Deazy Burzynski Associates. Approval of this restoration proposal is recommended. 921 Spruce Street, Deazy Burzynski Associates. Approval is recommended with the requirement that the stucco on the side wall be of a yellow tan or buff color and that the basement window be of wood rather than metal and have a simple vertical bar grille installed for protection. REHABILITATIONS SPECIFICATIONS 902 Spruce Street. The specifications for the restoration of this building were reviewed in detail and the following changes and recommendations are suggested: In Section A under Site Requirements the Committee recommended that an investigation of the yard be undertaken to determine its original level. Also in Section A, the metal railing and gate mentioned in item 4 must be similar to that approved for 900 Spruce Street. Changes Required to Roof. Item 1 should read "new (glass A) shingle roofing and metal flashing". In Item 3 the word "anodized" should be eliminated and "dark bronze duraonodic" substituted in its place. In Item 4 chimneys should be restored and demolished and reconstructed only if necessary. Changes Required to Spruce Street Elevation. In the first specification under the section only visible skylights must be removed. In Item 3 the word "bell" should be taken out and "defective" put in its place. Item 6 under this heading can be completely eliminated. Changes Required to Side and Rear Elevations. Item 2 can be eliminated. 218-20 South 8th Street. These specifications were distributed among the members of the Committee for review. They will be discussed at the

The Committee recommends the approval of these specifications as presented. ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 3 18 August 1976 PLAQUES 210 Fitzwater Street and 248 Catharine Street. Both request for plaques were tabled. A 5" x 7", or larger, photograph showing the entire building is required. 425 Spruce Street. This request for a plaque was reviewed and approval is recommended.
