Miles Katzen, owner of 929-31-33 Spruce Street. Lanny L. Leibowitz, Architect for 1029-33 Spruce Street. SUBMISSIONS 800 South Fifth Street, The Pemberton Street Group. The Committee agreed to recommend the approval of this plan subject to the removal of the Romanbar in the bay window. The staff will provide door and shutter details of the period. 1029-31-33 Spruce Street, Lanny L. Leibowitz, Architect. The architect's plan was reviewed and approval was recommended. The Committee, however, requires the installation of a cast stone or marble frontispiece rather than one executed in wood as requested by the owner. Also, the architect, after removing the stucco from the facade of 1029 and 1031, will treat a section of the slashed brick with an epoxy fill. This partial treatment of the wall will be inspected by a member of the Committee or a member of the staff before an approval for the treatment of the entire wall is given. The rear, Irving Street, elevation was also approved. 929-31-33 Spruce Street, FRIDAY Architects. The plan for the restoration of these three buildings was approved subject to the following requirements: the restoration of the marble or cast stone workable across the facades of all three buildings; the inclusion of a transom bar within the door frame; and the duplication of the original iron railings. The Committee suggested that the architect view the building situated at 228 South Ninth Street and the information available in the Commission's files for this structure for additional information. 421-27-31 Chestnut Street (interior alterations), H&L. Approval of the plans, as submitted, was recommended by the Committee. ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE 2 20 May 1975 SUBMISSIONS (Cont'd) 248 Catharine Street, Alden Blythe, Architect. The owner's request to fill the lower story openings with cinder block was reviewed by the Committee.

Blythe, Architect. The Committee recommended the approval of this plan for the restoration of 248 Catharine Street with the requirement that the dormer window have twelve lights of glass. 63 North Third Street. The owner's request to fill the lower story openings with cinder block was reviewed by the Committee. It is recommended that the Commission deny this request. Iron grilles, mounted into the masonry, or shutters, reinforced with steel plates, are recommended for protection to the lower floors. 251 South Camac Street. Although the owner agreed to do all work in accordance with the Historical Commission's recommendations, Mr. Way reported that work was continuing without building permits and without the approval of either the Commission or the Authority. The Committee recommended that a stop work order be issued until drawings are submitted for review and are approved. SPECIAL REVIEW NJ SASH Replacement Windows. The Committee examined the sample window presented to the staff. The members noted that the muntin profiles were incorrect and that Mr. Flagor be advised to duplicate the drawings given him by the staff more precisely, using ecavex instead of concave profiles. All references to the Historical Commission must be called from the firm's advertising. REHABILITATION SPECIFICATIONS 410 South Tenth Street. The specifications for the renovation of this building were reviewed and approved. The building, although not historically certified at this time, will be presented to the Board for consideration at its next meeting. The staff will assist in working out the pattern of openings in the masonry. 712 Addison Street. The Committee recommended approval of these specifications. 1030-1032 Spruce Street. The Committee recommended approval of these specifications and agreed to allow the retention of the existing fire escapes if this is permitted by the Department of Licenses and Inspections. The staff will provide the architect with details for replacing the sash to restore the original appearance. PROBLEMS 419 Fulton Street. The Committee, at the request of the owner, was asked to advise on the restoration of this building.
