The Committee reviewed the drawings for the restoration of this property and recommended that pressure-treated wooden shingles be used for the roof, dormer sheets and pent; the pent definitely should have wooden shingles. The Committee also suggested that the alley gate have a straight, not a scalloped, top, the line to be drawn at or just below the spring of the arch. Finally, the Committee expressed interest in the treatment of the alley on basement windows; no sills appear in the submission drawings. The Committee recommended the approval of this proposal upon the satisfaction of the staff on these points. 608 South Front Street, Arthur Jones, A.I.A., architect. The Committee recommended the approval of this submission. Inasmuch as this work will not constitute a full restoration, however, the house should not be eligible for a plaque upon the implementation of the proposal. 715 Pine Street, Bernie Cleff, owner. The Committee recommended the approval of Mr. Cleff's submission for shutters. 524 South 11th Street, Alfred De Martini, owner, and Gerald Clawson, architect. The Committee reviewed a preliminary submission for this property and recommended that the ground floor half window be treated more sympathetically with the upper floors and with the period, c. 1870; that the sash be 2/2, not 9/9; that the side elevation be restudied with sympathetic consideration for Victorian design, and that every effort be made in plan to preserve the original openings. DEMOLITIONS 407, 409 and 411 South 2nd Street. Having received further reports on the structural condition of these buildings, the Committee recommended that the Commission consent to the demolition of these houses. Inasmuch as 411 South 2nd Street is reportedly in sound condition, if the owner/ developer chooses to resubmit a demolition permit application only for 407 and 409 South 2nd Street, the Committee recommended that only these Architectural Committee 2 17 August 1977 two buildings be razed. Finally, the Committee suggested that the developer consider the reconstruction of houses similar to 411 South 2nd Street, an early National period building, at 407 and 409 South 2nd, lots now occupied by Greek Revival houses. PLAQUES . 119 Lombard Street. The Committee recommended the approval of a restored plaque for this house. 1030 and 1032 Spruce Street. The Committee recommended that a plaque not be awarded to these properties, owing to the historically unauthentic railings at the steps and grills on the basement windows.
