Carl Krumhols, Architect and Mr. Kaiser, Owner, regarding 134 North Third Street. SUBMISSIONS 401 South Second Street, Ross House, Calvin Thompson, Architect. Mr. Thompson presented his plans for the construction of a fire tower connecting with the Ross House and creating on Pine and for alterations to the rear of the building. The restoration of the Pine and Second Street facades had previously been reviewed and approved by the Committee and the Commission. As a result of a meeting with the Society Hill Civic Association, the original proposal for the design of the tower was modified to conform with the wishes of the neighbor- hood. Mr. Thompson also pointed out that the plans had been reviewed and approved by the Redevelopment Authority's Advisory Board of Design. After some discussion, the Committee agreed to recommend the approval of the plans as submitted. 134 North Third Street, Carl Krumhols, Architect. Mr. Krumhols presented to the Committee for its review his original proposal for the rehabilita- tion of 134 North Third Street and an amended one. His initial plan called for the moving of the entrance from the center of the facade to the north bay and closing in the large window openings on the ground floor with stucco and glass block. This treatment of the first floor would provide the security required by the owner, a goldsmith, for his commercial use. After some consideration, the Committee agreed to recommend the approval of the initial proposal. 222 W. Washington Square, Otto Reichart, Architect. The Committee reviewed the architect's plans for the restoration of 222 W. Washington Square and made several recommendations. The siding on the dormer windows should be executed in wood rather than aluminum and should match the existing pattern. In addition, the door should match the existing original design of the door at 228 W. Washington Square. In all

In all other respects, the plans, as submitted, are acceptable and the Committee recommends their approval subject to the above required changes. Approval of this restoration proposal is recommended. 56-60 North Second Street, Robert Decker, Architect. The Committee recommends the approval of this proposal, as submitted. It was agreed that this acceptance of the plans this does not include any approval for signage. The Commission should be consulted before any signs are installed on the building facade. 329 Queen Street, Howard J. Maresch, Jr., Contractor. Approval is recommended. The Committee noted that the door frame was not shown on the drawing but that since the specifications called for the repair and reuse of the existing frame it would not be required. Also, the entrance steps should be corrected on the drawing to match what is existing. 1003-05 Arch Street, H. Reed Longstrecker, Architect. Approval of this restoration proposal is recommended with the suggestion that the door within the window opening of the carter bay at the second floor be converted into a window to match the flanking bays. 2137 Mt. Vernon Street, The Johnson/Smith Partnership. A resubmission of this proposal is required. At the first floor, a Victorian entrance door should be installed with the transom light reduced in size by installing a thicker door head. It is suggested that a light be recessed into the exterior wall above the exterior lighting fixture, as shown on the drawing, be eliminated. On the second floor two over two double hung window sash should be installed in the window openings and the french doors within the center bay should be lengthened to fill the complete opening and thus eliminating the need for a transom. Since the original carriage entrance is not being renewed, this project cannot be considered a complete restoration and the building will not be eligible for the receipt of a plaque.
