Dr. Margaret B. Tinkcom, Historian Mrs. Charles J. Maurer, Executive Secretary Unless otherwise stated, all action taken herein is the result of motions properly presented, seconded and carried. THE MINUTES of the Meeting held on 1 March 1966 were approved as circulated. REPORTS Historic Values Committee, Dr. Roy Franklin Nichols, Chairman. Among items discussed in this report were those concerning an iconography of Philadelphia. The proposal to prepare this work on Philadelphia's architectural development was received with enthusiasm. Dr. Nichols' report was approved and ordered to be filed with the official copies of the Minutes. Architectural Committee, Mr. George K. Trautwein, Chairman. This report on the review of twelve submissions and four queries was approved. The Commission's Activities, Dr. Margaret B. Tinkcom, Historian. Dr. Tinkcom's report was approved. The full report is attached and a copy ordered to be filed with the Official copy of the Minutes. OLD BUSINESS · Pennsylvania Hospital Expansion program. The design of the new structure was discussed at length. It was resolved to approve the demolition of 235-255 South Eighth Street. It was directed that a letter to T. Truxtun Hare, Jr., Esq., be sent transmitting this resolution. Cannon Ball Farm. A letter from Commissioner Baxter was read. It was resolved that a letter to Commissioner Baxter, suggesting that the Water Department discuss the financing of the moving this historic building with Mr. William L. Wilcox, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Movement. The letter shall contain a statement that under no consideration shall the Water Department demolish Cannon Ball Farm. Ridgway Library. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Philip Dechert, Esq., stating that it was the consensus of the Philadelphia Historical Commission that this building does not lend itself to modern use. Mr. Ferguson agreed to look into the feasibility

Mr. Ferguson agreed to look into the feasibility of having Wills and Administrative papers up to 1850 given over to the Archives Division of the Department of Records, as well as engineering surveys in the various Archery Districts. Mr. Batten suggested that a story on this problem be written by Dr. Nichols, expressing succinctly the use and value these documents have for many kinds of reference. Rittenhouse Square. After discussion on several phases of the proposed work to be done in this square, it was agreed that it was not the concern of the Historical Commission. The Chairman pointed out that the fountain and its setting is the work of the late Paul Cret. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Grant M.
