Thank you, Mr. President. I wanted to take a moment to recognize and congratulate a very special young man who has been working in my office for the past two years. I don't see him around, so I don't know if he's come downstairs. But this young man came to my office as an intern in January of 2017 after being referred by a gentleman who is my good friend and I consider him to be a dean of local and state politics, and that was Joe McLaughlin at Temple University. And I hold Joe in very high esteem, and when he told me that this young man was one of the brightest in his class, my interest was piqued, and he definitely did not disappoint. He has shown impressive grit, problem-solving, and commitment. In May 2017, he became a full-time constituent service representative in the office, helping to address issues associated with residents throughout the Ninth District, and he did Stated Meeting February 7, 2019 passion and compassion. As further evidence of his civic engagement, I was immediately impressed when I found out that he was one of those "inside of the arena" guys. Instead of pointing at a system to talk about what was wrong, that he was a committee person in the 36th Ward and President of the Friends of Lanier Playground in Grays Ferry at the tender age of 25. Councilman Greenlee, I know you respect that kind of engagement at such a very, very young age. Given his intellect and drive, we knew it was only a matter of time before he moved on to bigger and better things, and sure enough, he was snatched up by the Mayor's Office and he is going to be the Assistant Chief of Staff in the Office of the Mayor and tomorrow will be his last day. While I am sad to lose him, his Stated Meeting February 7, 2019 Brian, but we call him the Senator in our office when we get together as a staff. We salute you, Brian Clinton. No relation to the Clintons we know, but he is Brian Clinton. Thank you for your hard work, your integrity, and your commitment to our people. Congratulations as you move onward and upward. And as I told you yesterday, no matter where you go or how high you get, don't you forget the people on the ground who we are all here to serve. Thank you, Mr. President.
Thank you, Mr. President. I rise today to give a thank you to one of our colleagues, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson. We passed a bill today dealing with changing all Stated Meeting February 7, 2019 for one of these old, small, like block-long playground that I wondered why I forgot it. I found out after we went so far that it wasn't my district. It was his. You know how it is sometimes your line, it eludes you. And when we went to him and said, look, we got a hearing and all of that, and he said, oh, yeah, that's fine, I know exactly where you mean. And he's been just wonderful about it. Everybody doesn't always feel that way when you're crossing that line. So I want to say to him thank you very much. We try to do the right thing, and we're very, very grateful for the support.
