Thank you, Mr. President. Councilwoman, the amendment has been circulated?
The amendment has been circulated. It's just a date change that we have to do. I thank all of the SEIU members for coming here. We are working with you. It's a technical amendment. (Audience members chanting "Do it now.") 5/31/12 - STATED - 2ND READING (Pause.)
In order to do that, I have to ask for a suspension of rules, don't I, to do a final vote because we're amending it? No?

I know that we are at the negotiating table and some may say that Council has no role to play in that, but we do. We in this body will approve a budget and a taxing authority to the School District of Philadelphia. This body has consistently in my four years it has been here did many heavy liftings for the School District of Philadelphia and we should be allowed to set priorities about where the money goes at the School District of Philadelphia and set forth our priorities. And with that, I happily support the SEIU negotiations.
