And on a sad note, Madam President, I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone of the passing my friend and long-time supporter Betty Mitchell who lived in West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. When I think of Betty Mitchell, I think of her involvement with the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women in which she served as regional director for four years. And she also served on the Federation's Executive Board for 15 years and formed the West Oak Lane Division of this organization in 1984. And she served as its president until last year when her health began to decline. She was a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. She became politically involved with the party in the early 1940s. And some of Betty's fondest memories of her political involvement included her hosting a fund-raiser at Ed Rendell when he ran for District Attorney. And she also hosted several events for Mayor Wilson Goode. Betty was a foster mother for 25 years and helped to raise over 40 children. She never said no to anyone who needed help, and her home was always an open house filled with love. She was a true friend and a staunch supporter. She along with Ruth Raglan, Kathy Huggins, Pearly Hilly and many of the other members of the Federation have been major supporters of many officials here who are elected today. Her funeral services will be on Saturday at Upper Room Baptist Church at 10:00. I'd like to call on a moment of silence for Betty Mitchell, because was a true, strong democratic woman (Moment of silence.)
The Chair again recognizes Councilwoman Tasco for a motion to adjourn.
