Good morning. This is the Committee on Law and Government and Health and Human Services. We have a quorum of Council President Verna, Councilman DiCicco, Councilwoman Donna Miller, Councilman Nutter, Councilman Rizzo. This is a very simple process today. We have given the report out to the folks. This report has been extensively covered. It's Resolution 960671. And I think we have a quorum, Madame President. This is going to be the biggest public policy issue in the next five years, and City Council has to do a very comprehensive report on it. All members have read it. (Copy of report attached herewith.)
Mr. Chairman, I move that the Joint Committee on Law & Government and Health & Human Services accept the report on the "Imminent Dangers of Welfare Reform in Philadelphia," written pursuant to Resolution 24 960671, that said report and its recommendations be adopted by the entire City Council at its next 3 2/4/99 LAW & GOV'T/PUB. HEALTH & HUM. SVCS. stated meeting, and that a copy of the approved report be sent to Governor Ridge and the General Assembly.
