We thank you for the gift of the City of Philadelphia, for all citizens of the City of Brotherly Love, especially the leader of our city, Mayor Nutter, and the leaders and members of our City Council, who are elected representatives of the people of our wonderful city. Each day, Lord, each member of City Council willingly shares what they have and who they are. Even though it was on the docket, I will not be calling for an override of Mayor Nutter's veto of the earned paid sick leave bill because we are one vote short of making this -- one vote short -- of making this a law of Philadelphia. I want to thank the majority of Council who supported this bill and have dealt with the pressure of supporting it. I also want to thank the Healthy Families Coalition, who are here today, and my Legislative Director, Noelle Marconi, for all their efforts. I apologize to 180,000 workers in Philadelphia, who I could not get this done for them that other progressive cities around the country have. Mr. President, Philadelphia will have earned paid sick days in the future. It's just a shame we won't be in 2ND READING the forefront and instead bringing up the rear. Thank you, Mr. President.
