Thank you, Madam Chair. This week I read a little article in the "Daily News," sort of in the back pages, detailing some facts about the census and about Cities. And it spoke about a City that was supposed to not lose the percentage of the population that they lost, and it was a great, great percentage, because of the actions that they had taken during the last 10 years to try to stem that population flight. And it spoke about Philadelphia where the flight, or at least population was replaced. The left, but immigrants and other individuals did come in in sufficient numbers so that we did not lose the population that everyone was speaking and talking that we were going to lose. And they spoke about this other city and activities that they did, the government and the Mayor and the City Council. Among one of the things that they did and they've been hailed and even they came down here to testify and to tell us the route to take, some of them, they built ballparks, they built stadiums, they built Camden Yards and they built a football stadium. And the reporter makes a point that says it did not stop the flight, it did SPEECHES not bring in population, and it did not create the jobs. We have not built the stadiums as of yet and we still grew or at least maintained a semblance of the population, although we lost some. But the panacea, the prescription that we were being given as to expenditures on these projects really did not bear fruition. The City is Baltimore. The stadium is Camden yards. It really did not produce the results that the Mayor and City Council thought they were going to produce. Thank you, Madam Chair.
Thank you. Are there any other speeches on the part of the majority? Seeing none, the Chair recognizes Councilwoman Tasco.
