Councilman, one of the things in this project is the developer is dedicating to the City a 20-foot strip that's actually allowing us to widen the traffic lanes. So we're not giving the developer any property. They're actually dedicating a 20-foot-wide parcel for the length of an entire block to the City, which 99 June 7, 2005 - Streets and Services allows us to widen the roadway.
Well, that's the kind of wrong thinking that ought not to appear on behalf of the City government, when you're saying that we're not making a huge investment in CBS. I have nothing against the company. As far as I know, it's a good company. Financially it's a strong company. That's the reason I think they ought to be paying for the cost and not us. I don't know why their shareholders, who undoubtedly are on average much better off financially than citizens of Philadelphia, why their shareholders ought to be benefiting and the taxpayer of Philadelphia ought to be suffering. COUNCILMAN DiCICCO: Thank you. Any other questions for these witnesses? (No response.) COUNCILMAN DiCICCO: Is there anyone here who wishes to testify for or against the bill? (No response.) COUNCILMAN DiCICCO: Seeing 100 June 7, 2005 - Streets and Services none, I will ask the clerk to read the title of the next bill. Thank you very much. Good luck to you. Thank you. Thanks for staying in Philadelphia.
If I may, I didn't know whether the Streets Department had asked that the rules be suspended on this. COUNCILMAN DiCICCO: We're going to handle that. Thank you.
