Then I have something to say. So in these Chambers recently, we've had a lot of hot-button topic issues, taxes, AVI, and also collection of outstanding debts has been one of them. Me and my colleagues have raised this prospect and wanted to be more 5/9/13 - STATED - 2ND READING accountable to the citizens, looking for revenues first before raising AVI. I am glad to say that we worked with our colleagues and the Administration on these bills to encourage taxpayers, even those in the arrears, to pay their taxes and for the services that have been provided. We, in turn, have a duty to efficiently let taxpayers know where their money is going, whether it's going to principal, whether it's going to fees or whether it's going to interest payments. Bill No. 120823 introduced on behalf of the Administration goes a long way in moving the needle in the right direction. I want to recognize the co-sponsor of this bill, Councilman Bill Green, who began working tirelessly with the Administration and the real estate tax delinquency department to figure this out, so that at the end of the day, taxpayers know where their dollar is going. 5/9/13 - STATED - 2ND READING So I want to thank everyone for looking at these amendments and hopefully move for its swift adoption.
