One question. Councilman Nutter, is this the bill that the Streets Department is going to permit to be followed? The sign was going to be installed? Or is this going to be another case in which the Streets Department decides not to permit us to have it? SECOND READING - BILL 990569
Councilman, I would certainly hope that the Streets Department will exercise good judgment and follow the will of the Council. I have no idea, quite honestly, what the Streets Department will do. And should they decide to ignore the will of this body, we will just add this bill into the planned lawsuit against the Streets Department. So the Council, in taking this action today, will express its will, as it has in the past, and then it will be left to the Streets Department to decide whether they want to continue to ignore the authority of this legislative body.
I feel reassured when you state that we'll be ready to take legal action.
Absolutely. The body has already authorized the hiring of attorneys to proceed with the lawsuit, and they're following that particular course.
