Thank you, Madam President. A friendly reminder: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I ask the rhetorical question, is there any one of us whose life has not been touched by a loved one affected by breast cancer? A few compelling facts: One in every eight women will develop a form of some point during their lives. In 2009, an estimated 192,000 women were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Additionally, 62,000 women will be diagnosed with non-invasive breast cancer, and 40,000 will die from breast cancer. The critical research for a cure continues, and we know that all research takes financial support. All efforts take government support, and I am pleased to report that one of Philadelphia's own local corporate citizens, the Philadelphia Eagles, have taken an aggressive, proactive stance on this issue. I remind my colleagues and guests that immediately following City Council, everyone is invited to join us in the Caucus Room for a citation presentation to the Eagles for their effort tackling breast cancer. For the past five years, the Eagles, under the and the leadership of Pamela Browner-Crawley and their fans, have raised over $1 million towards breast cancer in this region. This year the Eagles are teaming up with our very own Phillies, Madam President. And I hold up this T-shirt to entice my colleagues to join us in Caucus Chambers wherein everyone will receive this City of Brotherly Love t-shirt co-branded, as we can see, with both the Phillies and the Eagles. We will be joined by the Eagles mascot. That would be?
The Eagles cheerleaders, the Philly Phanatic and ball girls from the Eagles. So we're inviting everyone to join us with these first-class teams who have a first-class reputation for charitable giving. Thank you, Madam President.
Thank you, Madam President. The School District has a new renaissance schools initiative to turn around low-performing schools. They are planning meetings throughout the City to allow for public input. Those dates and locations are as follows. And I will make this available to my colleagues. Monday, November 2nd for North Philadelphia, Philippian Baptist Church, 5801 North Broad; Wednesday, November 4th, the east area, Norris Square Civic Association, St. Boniface site, 2010 North Mascher Street; Thursday, the 5th for West Philadelphia, High School of the Future, 4021 Parkside Avenue; and Monday, the 9th for South Philadelphia at the new Audenreid High School, 3301 Tasker Street. All meetings are from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock. And, again, I will make this flyer available to all my colleagues. And, finally, as always -well, not as always, but we do have our Partnership for Prescription Assistance table in the hallway for you or your constituents to use. Thank you, Madam President.
You're welcome. Are there any further speeches? (No response.)
