So it's been more than a year ago.
So attached, you will also find the refusal, the appeal,
the projection form, the CBA hearing date,
community meeting.
We also have pictures,
tax clearings, plans, and we have the RCO letter.
plans, and we have the RCO letter. So originally it was refused, obviously because this property
is designated as a single family, but it's obvious that the area is changing.
um so we have other multi-unit properties in the area for example uh there's a multi-unit
property on g and chiller street just around the block there's another one on rossel and g street
and less than 200 feet from the property in question there is a building with 30 units
specifically on I Street and Tioga. So the original purpose was to provide a space
for myself and to provide a service for the community. So the prices in the area are going up.
Not everyone can afford a $1,200 rent. So besides providing service, as I said,
that I was planning to live in one of the units,
which I haven't been able to do,
because it's been almost two years
since the initial application.
During this time, I've had to stay
at somebody else's property,
regardless of the fact that I've been paying tax
for this property, I've been keeping it
clean but um i haven't been able to proceed with the next step because uh you know there's
being a lot of postponing um so as you can see uh we follow the procedure we hired an architect
who was gonna make sure that the dividing of this property was gonna meet code
We met with the community organization, specifically, the name is Impact Services, and only one of the members opposed to it.
And then in the most recent, in the meeting, in the last meeting, no one from the community organization attended.
and uh you know we've been waiting for a long time and we've tried to do everything by the law
we send hundreds of letters to people that actually live in the community and no one
opposed to it and if that is necessary um i am right here um in the in the neighbor's house
someone who actually lives across from the property in question, who may serve as a representative of the neighbors in the area,
to share with you what her thoughts are on this project and what it would mean for the community.
When we first purchased this property, it was full of garbage.
uh drug addicts were using it you know to do their thing
you know we feel that this project actually brings more benefit than it does harm to the
community and obviously we have demonstrated that we want to do everything according to the law and
we follow every procedure and we've waited patiently
until the conclusion of this matter.

make sure everybody can see it. This is a very basic signage application for 101 North Independence
Mall. Better known as the building that's on the corner of Fifth and Market. I'm here on behalf of
tenant the american bible society which is opening their uh faith and liberty discovery center on the
ground floor and the signage that we're asking for is accessory to that uh the refusal that we
received um as you can see we're only allowed one freestanding sign per street frontage
so some of the signage at the site is already existing we're seeking a variance for uh two
additional freestanding signs that what is allowed by code we did meet with the old city district
their letter of unanimous support is up on the screen now and light of that broad-based
Their letter of unanimous support is up on the screen now, and in light of that broad-based
support, I will keep my presentation brief in consideration of the board's agenda.
Here is the property here that we're talking about.
It's zone CMX4, so the use is completely by right.
We have some photos of the property just for orientation.
This is the building in question here.
You can see that it already has some signage for the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center
that's been erected on the outside of the building at that ground floor.
The signs that we're proposing that require variants are freestanding informational signs
that are going to be located here and here, and those are going to give some information
about the offerings inside the Discovery Center to passers-by, so they will be rotating in
terms of their content but fixed in terms of their location to give the board a sense
of what these would look like. This is a rendering and these are the freestanding signs that we're
speaking about here for a little bit closer context. You can see here these will be you know
similar to what you'd see outside of the Franklin Institute or Natural Science Museum. They would be
sort of placards that it would identify information about what's taking place inside. How many signs
are there there are a total uh of five freestanding signs we're allowed one per street frontage
okay there's a and there's a variety of signage that's already existing and previously permitted
such as the banner sign and and some of the identification signage for the american bible
society um we do have uh the sign location plan this is just giving you some additional
area context. These updatable public programming blocks are located here, here, and here. And
Ms. Tenere, to answer your question, the existing signs here is the header above the main entrance.
And there's a logo sign and so an institutional identification signage
that's located there. I have a full set of the signage plans in my packet if the board has any
questions about those but I won't take your time to go through those in any great depth. I will ask
my client Patrick Murdoch to virtually raise his hand so he might adopt my testimony. Pat if you're
