COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE - - - Room 400, City Hall Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Wednesday, March 25, 1998 10:00 a.m. - - - Bill No. 980006 PRESENT: PRESIDENT JOHN F. STREET, Chairman - - - VINCENT VARALLO ASSOCIATES, INC. Registered Professional Reporters Eleven Penn Center, Suite 600 Philadelphia, PA 19103 (215) 561-2220 2 COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE P R O C E E D I N G S

President Street

It is my understanding that we actually only have one item in front of us today. And this is a Council Committee of the Whole, and this is the bill that requires us to authorize a ballot question for the Capital Program. We only have two witnesses. Is there any member of the general public who is here who wishes to testify on this bill? (No response.)

President Street

Notwithstanding the throng of people that are here -- actually, throng of people that is here; throng, of course, being a singular. If there's no one from the general public who wishes to testify -- under ordinary circumstances, if a hearing has to be recessed, it is, of course, our practice not to inconvenience members of the general public. So those of you who are here who came to hear the scintillating testimony of the Finance Department, we apologize for that and invite you to come back on Thursday morning, at 9 o'clock, 3 COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE the time at which we are going to have this public hearing. I repeat, is there any member of the general public who would like to testify on Bill 6 No. 980006? (No response.)

President Street

Seeing no one, this committee will stand in recess until Wednesday, March 26, at 9 o'clock a.m., in these chambers. I'd like to personally thank the Council Members who inconvenienced themselves and who, at great expense to their public schedules, found time to be here at this public hearing. Thursday, did I say "Wednesday"? Well, the hearing -- today is Wednesday. The hearing will be Thursday morning, the 26th of March, at 9 o'clock a.m., in these chambers. So thank you very much for coming. We wish everyone a very nice day. (Adjourned at 10:00 a.m.) - - - 4 C E R T I F I C A T E I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing proceedings of the Council of the City of Philadelphia of Wednesday, March 25, 1998 were reported and accurately by me, and that this is a correct transcript of same.
