Okay. 10/29/09 - STATED - 2ND READING Thank you, Madam President. I won't repeat my remarks from a year ago when we passed this bill on an interim basis. I believe all Council knows making the protection of domestic abuse victims permanent is providing assistance to people who need it the most. However, I do want to recognize the presence of many victim advocates who are here today. I'd like to have them stand back there. There's a few of them there, including members of Women Against Abuse and the Women's Law Project, who were instrumental in the drafting of this bill, and I thank them for all their tireless advocacy and efforts. And, Madam President, I respectfully urge the support of all members of Council for this bill. Thank you.
