Pedersen, The Old Philadelphia Development Corp. Dr. Margaret B. Tinkcom, Historian Mrs. Charles J. Maurer, Secretary CARPENTERS COMPANY, a letter from Mr. M. O. Anderson, Superintendent, Independence National Historical Park to Mr. John Harbeson, re alterations proposed for elaborate fireplaces, was read. The alterations are not approved until a full study of complete restoration is at hand. SUBMISSIONS 108 Pine Street. This is approved with regret that the east wall is not to be veneered, but stuccoed. 120 Pine Street. This is approved and the architect asked to submit profiles of all moldings. (This has the original door and shutters) 411 Spruce Street. Interior plans are approved and the owner is to be commended that the Commission strongly recommends louvered shutters on the second and third floors, to match those at 413 Spruce. 352 S. Fourth Street. It is recommended that the doorway in the Pine Street gabled wall be kept. But it is strongly recommended that the door, in its original position, as shown in the 1860 photograph, be replaced, even if not used. No blinds are indicated for third floor windows. Query A letter regarding the process of sandblasting with intent to make both old and new brick match each other was read. This was disapproved with the comment that the chemical used to seal the brick after it has been sandblasted needs to be renewed every few years and this is an expensive item of upkeep. PLAQUES REQUESTED 107 Pine Street. Approved 109 Pine Street. Approved 237 S. Quince Street. Approved 419 S. Carlisle Street. Approved Rectory of St. Joseph's Church, Willing's Alley. Disapproved. Restore first. 1023, 1025 Waverly Street, a re-review. The Commission again studied the approved drawings in the light of the submitted photographs and existing data. Several unauthorized changes have been made since approval was first given. The position of the Historical Commission remains unchanged and a letter suggests that if the owner had asked for help in solving the problems he faced, he might have been given assistance which would have led to acceptable solutions.
