Dream Garden Mosaic Mural, Curtis Building Lobby,170 South Independence Mall West Estate of John W. Merriam, Applicant DATE: 1914-1916 PROPOSAL: Removal The Committee continued the review of the hardship application from the 21 July 1999 2 meeting. Attorneys for the applicant were present, and introduced the following witnesses: David P. Donaldson, Judith Goffman Cutler and Laurence Cutler. Their written statements, resumes and transcripts of their remarks are attached. Staff asked counsel for the applicant if it could question George P. O’Connell, Esq. or Elizabeth Merriam. Mr. Sprague asked to hear the questions first, then permitted Ms. Spina to ask Mr. O’Connell one of the prepared questions. The transcript is attached. Members of the public objected to the proposal. Sandra Ullman spoke regarding the possibility of the citizens of Philadelphia purchasing Dream Garden. Respectfully submitted, R. Scott Jacob Executive Secretary
