My name is Pastor Barry J. Williams, Sr. I am here today to represent our organization, which is called the Citizens Congress of Philadelphia and Vicinity, which I am the newly elected President. It's an organization presenting itself for the champion of the poor and the disadvantaged, handicapped. We are forming a coalition of other organizations who work with us or we work with them, such as Black Clergy, ACORN and many other groups in the City of Philadelphia and its vicinity. My main purpose in being here today is to plead with you, our representatives in the political spectrum, as to the gas rates, that we would like to have more information sent 158 10/11/05 - TRANSPORTATION - RES. 050845 to our various churches and community organizations and to work with the Councilpersons, the Gas Commission and PGW itself in forming a relationship that would benefit all people in our communities in the City of Philadelphia. We do hope that you will consider and study the matter closely over the thousands of people who are handicapped, sick and shut in, those persons who are poor and disadvantaged of low income that will face the oncoming winter. For some of them to have gas increase or shut-offs, it would be devastating. We would like to work with you to do all that we can to bring about some type of resolution in helping our people, all people of all creed, race and colors. Thank you.
